A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
